Superman by Michael Turner

I have a copy of this issue signed by Michael Turner. The day he died, somebody suggested that I sell my copy.
Collecting comics isn’t about monetary value to a true fanboy. Each issue is a chapter in my life, and when I have a piece that a creator signed, it is a piece of that person.
SO, the day Michael Turner lost his battle with cancer, I told that somebody to go to hell, and it still hangs proudly in my Superman room.

I honestly couldn’t have said it better. I never quite understood people who collected with the intent to sell. What exactly would be the point? Collecting is about connecting to the subject matter and expressing a love for things your passionate about. Collecting signed things is even more intense. It isn’t about the cash, it’s about being able to appreciate the artist or writer who has played a part in creating what it is that you love. I can’t quite explain my truly immense love for collecting and respect for people who do it. It’s dedication to who you are and what you love.  Maybe I’m passionate about being passionate.
